General Accountant

About the role
We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly organized General Accountant to join our team.
The ideal candidate is responsible for ensuring that the Company’s financial records are accurate and compliant with relevant standards, oversees the company's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. The General Accountant plans and manages budgeting and financial forecasting and ensures the Company's financial decisions are based on solid, factual data.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting Operations:
· Compliance with all tax and financial requirements in the UAE, prepare accounts for VAT and Tax filing.
· Managing the payroll process, end of service benefits and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
· Receive and verify invoices and acquisition for goods and services, invoices include (local and international suppliers
· Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures and contract terms.
· Monitor accounts payable and ensure payments are up to date, process payment transfer request or cheque payment request.
· Data entry for all payments done to the vendors (checks and transfers)
· Maintain PDCs, properly file and report them.
· Resolve invoice discrepancies, reconcile vendor’s balances at least each month end.
· Resolve accounts’ discrepancies, reconcile customers’ balances.
· Assist in preparation of intercompany transactions and consolidation entries.
· Manage all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Intercompany and Revenue Recognition.
· Monitors petty cash payments and the replenishments / credit card payments.
· Monitoring of monthly Utility Bills, DEWA, Etisalat/DU, Salik.
· Monitor and update office/clinic fixed assets, ensuring that all records are updated and maintained
· Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
· Manage and maintain documentation related to sales transactions, including contracts, agreements, and client correspondence, ensuring proper organization and confidentiality.
· Assist with basic administration tasks as needed, including answering phone calls and emails, arranging courier, filing documents, legal documentations and organizing paperwork.
· Respond to inquiries, acts as a liaison between related departments.
· Other tasks that maybe assigned from time to time
2. Financial Reporting and Planning:
· Preparing budget reports and financial forecasts to guide decision-making.
· Prepare/review daily sales reports, sales summaries, and other administrative documents as required to support decision-making and record-keeping.
· Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements as per the current practices – this includes monthly/quarterly/annually P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements
· Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
· Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
3. Compliance and Control:
· Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
· Liaise with banks and government authorities.
· Adhere to filing procedures and authority matrix of the company.
· Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
· Keep a list of contracts up to date and maintain records of legal documentation.
· Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
· Liaise with External/ Internal Auditors and provide them with support and documentation to complete their audits. Implement recommendations and provide management action plans for the issues identified in the report
· Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closing
· Plan and lead implementation of new financial accounting systems, interfaces and system improvement and processes when needed
· Support Digital filing of supporting documentation for all accounting entries and reconciliation.
· Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
4. Month-End and Year-End Close:
· Prepare month-end and year-end closure process.
· Analyze revenues, bonus/commissions, and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.
Skills
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor, MBA in Accounts or in Finance is required.
· Thorough knowledge of rules and application of VAT/Corporate Tax in UAE/GCC
· 3+ years’ experience as a General Accountant or in a similar role in the UAE.
· Proficient in using accounting software and financial management systems. Experience required with Mandatory experience in QuickBooks required.
· Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
· Attention to detail and accuracy in financial records and reports.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
