About the role
Overview
OWIS Riyadh is seeking dedicated and experienced PYP EAL Teachers to support students in developing their English language proficiency within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The ideal candidates will provide targeted English language support while ensuring alignment with the IB philosophy and the school’s academic standards.
Job Purpose
To support students whose first language is not English in developing their English language skills, enabling them to fully access the PYP curriculum. The role focuses on language acquisition, differentiation, and collaboration with homeroom teachers to enhance student learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver EAL (English as an Additional Language) support sessions aligned with the IB PYP framework.
Support students in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
Identify students’ language levels and provide targeted interventions and differentiated instruction.
Collaborate with homeroom teachers to support integration of language development across subjects.
Monitor and assess students’ progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback.
Develop and implement individual or small group learning plans for EAL students.
Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to support inclusive and inquiry-based learning.
Communicate regularly with parents during PTMs and when required regarding student progress.
Contribute to curriculum development and participate in collaborative planning sessions.
Participate in school activities, events, and professional development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
Teaching qualification or education diploma (as per MOE requirements).
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in EAL / ESL instruction.
Strong proficiency in English language (spoken and written).
Experience with the IB PYP framework or in an international school environme
