About the role
Join InterContinental Kuwait City, a prestigious hotel within the IHG portfolio, as a Duty Engineer. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in upholding our commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences by ensuring all engineering systems operate with optimal efficiency, safety, and reliability. You will be a key player in maintaining the seamless comfort of our guests and the operational excellence of our world-class facility.
Your daily responsibilities will include promptly attending to engineering maintenance issues across guest rooms and public areas, responding to guest maintenance requests and emergency calls, and continuously monitoring the performance of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and civil systems. You will conduct routine inspections and execute preventive maintenance according to established schedules, ensuring the proper operation of critical equipment such as chillers, air handling units (AHUs), boilers, pumps, and generators.
You will coordinate effectively with other hotel departments to minimize operational disruptions, maintain detailed logs and records of all maintenance work, and ensure strict compliance with all safety standards, statutory regulations, and hotel Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Additionally, you will supervise contractors and service providers during repair or maintenance works as required and actively support our energy conservation initiatives and cost-control measures to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency.
What we're looking for
- Technical diploma or degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities maintenance
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and civil systems
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and equipment monitoring
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations promptly
- Excellent coordination and communication skills
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Supervisory experience with contractors and service providers
- Commitment to energy conservation and cost-control initiatives
